Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we don't, and what we never sell.
Last updated: April 28, 2026
amazes.us (the "Service") and the "this AMAZES us!" iOS app (the "App") are operated by amazes.us. This policy describes the limited data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We've kept it short and plain-spoken because privacy policies that no one reads protect no one.
What we collect
Device identifier and push token (App only). When you opt in to daily push notifications, the App sends Apple's APNs push token and a per-install device identifier to our server so we can deliver the notifications. Both are deleted when you disable notifications or uninstall the App.
Sign in with Apple (optional). The App works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in to leave comments, Apple gives us a stable user identifier and (if you allow it) a private relay email address. We never receive your real Apple ID or password. You can sign out at any time.
Anonymous usage events (App only, opt-out). Aggregate counts of which articles are read and which features are used. No personally identifying information is attached. You can disable this entirely under Settings → Privacy in the App.
Crash and performance data (opt-out). Apple's MetricKit aggregates technical metrics on-device and we receive only the rolled-up histograms — no usernames, no content of articles you read, no location. You can disable this under Settings → Privacy.
Server logs (website). Standard web-server logs (IP address, user agent, request path, timestamp) are retained for 30 days for security and debugging, then deleted.
What we don't collect
- Your name, address, phone number, or contacts.
- Your location.
- Your photos, microphone, camera, or any other device sensors.
- Cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not use the IDFA. We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
What we never sell
We have never sold user data to any third party and we never will. There is no advertising business model behind this app — it's free because we wanted it to exist, not because you're the product.
Third parties
- Apple (APNs) for push delivery. Apple privacy policy.
- OpenAI processes article text on our server to generate the audio narrations and (separately) some article imagery. No user data is sent to OpenAI; only article text we have already published. OpenAI API data policy.
- The hosting provider for our server retains the standard web logs described above.
Children
The Service is rated 4+ in the App Store and contains no content directed specifically at children, but is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@amazes.us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can request deletion of any data tied to your account or device by emailing hello@amazes.us. We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days.
EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). California residents have rights under CCPA. To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@amazes.us.
Changes
If we materially change this policy we will update the date above and post a notice in the App. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
